{ Schema Data (JSON-LD) Strategies & Brand Entity Building }
Core Rules of Schema Data
MATCH YOUR CONTENT:
- What users see on the page must match what Google reads in the Schema code.
- Rule: Never show one thing to users (e.g., Movie news) and something else in Schema (e.g., Politics). Google will issue a Penalty/Strike for misleading information.
USE JSON-LD FORMAT:
- Always prefer JSON-LD (application/ld+json). It sits inside the <head> section of your HTML, allowing Google to understand your page context before reading the main body text.
HACK #1: ARTICLE SCHEMA - SMART "SHORT DESCRIPTION"
The Problem:
- SEO plugins usually copy only the first paragraph or the entire article into the shortDescription field, wasting valuable SEO potential.
The Solution:
- Write a 400–500 word keyword-rich summary directly inside the Schema shortDescription field.
- Google penalizes keyword stuffing on the visible page, but adding rich context in Schema is safe and helps Google understand your topic deeply.
- Competitors rarely check your raw Schema code, giving you a hidden ranking advantage.
HACK #2: ORGANIZATION SCHEMA - THE SAMEAS PROFILE TRICK
The Problem:
- Standard schema tools only offer fields for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. However, B2B or local businesses get zero value from empty Twitter or Instagram pages.
The Solution:
- The sameAs tag simply tells Google: “Our brand also exists on these specific URLs.”
- It is not limited to social media. You can add your business profile URLs from directory sites like IndiaMART, Justdial, TradeIndia, or Yellow Pages.
- This connects all your web profiles together, building strong Brand Authority in Google’s Knowledge Graph.
Step-by-Step Execution Workflow
A. Generating Article Schema (via TechnicalSEO.com)
Select Article Type (Article, NewsArticle, or BlogPosting).
- Tip: Choose Article for evergreen/serious content. Using BlogPosting for high-value content sends a weaker signal to Google.
Fill in the Details:
- URL & Headline: Exact page URL and title.
- Images: Add URLs for all images on the page, not just the featured image.
- Short Description: Add your 400–500 word keyword-rich summary.
- Author & Publisher: Author Name/URL, Publisher Name/Logo URL.
- Dates: Published and Modified dates.
B. Testing Your Schema
Copy your code and test it using Google’s Rich Results Test tool:
- Green (Valid): Perfect. No errors.
- Yellow Warning: Valid and readable by Google, but missing optional details (e.g., timezone).
- Red Error: Broken code (syntax error or missing brackets). Google will ignore it.
- Give Google Reasons to Rank You: Google is a business, not a charity. It won’t replace a top-ranking competitor unless you provide better, clearer context (more image URLs, richer schema descriptions, and connected entity profiles).
- Fix On-Page First: Backlinks are powerful like a heavy cannon. If your On-Page SEO and Schema foundation aren’t solid first, building backlinks can harm your site rather than help it.
